Random Acts is planning a toy give away to children hospitalized, orphaned, or just in need of encouragement. We are accepting donations of unwrapped toys or gift cards suitable for children of all ages.
We are also planning a random act in memory of a remarkable young man named Lawrence Vargas. Lawrence's passion was giving children shoes who couldn't afford them. Unfortunately Lawrence's life was cut short and he is no longer with us. Random Acts has come along the Vargas family to carry on the legacy of their son's giving heart. We are seeking corporate sponsorship and monetary donations that will enable us to bless a school full of children and introduce them to the ongoing spirit of Lawrence Vargas.
Request a Random Act:
Firefighters: As responders called into peoples homes we are given a unique ability to recognize people's needs. We encourage everyone on the trucks to keep your eyes open for opportunities and submit a Request for a Random Act form. If you are out in the community or responding to a call and encounter someone who needs a helping hand you have the opportunity to create a positive difference in the life of an individual and create a positive memory for yourself.
Random Act Request Forms are available at every fire station. Call our office at (505) 463-3016, send us an e-mail, or contact a Random Acts Officer.
Books and Balls Program:
Recommend a School in Your District
Firefighters: If you would like to recommend a school in your Fire Station District to be a recipient of the Books and Balls Program, we'd like to hear from you. Random Acts will donate the books, and firefighters from your station will write inspiring messages to the children on the inside covers of the books. Random Acts will purchase the balls that are loaded into the cab of the fire engine. Your crew will drive onto the playground field with sirens blaring and surprise the kids when they open the door and you toss the balls out to them. To recommend a school, call or e-mail Random Acts.
Corporate Sponsors: If your corporation would like to sponsor a Books and Balls Program at an Albuquerque Public School, call or e-mail Random Acts.
Volunteer Opportunities:
If you would like to participate with the firefighters as we go out into the community to perform our various "random acts", stay posted on our web site for specific requests for volunteers. We would love to have you come along side of us and participate with our organization.
