Trumble Cleanup
Our organization has developed a heart for the Trumble neighborhood through our friendship with Pastor Martinez and his family, the Extreme Home Makeover family. We decided that we wanted to go back into the area and undertake a massive cleanup project. There are quite a few abandoned buildings in the area and some run down houses where many people live with their families. Random Acts teamed up with the City of Albuquerque, local churches, and the Promise Keepers to change the face of the Trumble area. Early in the morning Random Acts, along with nearly sixty volunteers, trash bins and bobcats met to pick up trash. We set up a tent and started giving the residents in the area hygiene kits, school kits for the children, handmade quilts, and even served hot dogs. Mark Chavez with Carving With A Message even came out to do a carving throughout the day. At the end of the day we had cleaned up 130,000 pounds of trash and given out thousands of dollars of humaintarian aide to the residents. We saw smiles on the faces of the children and gratitude in their parents eyes. We had gone out there to bless the families in the area and left there blessed by them.
